The end?

Posted by: Louis @ 11:47 am

This is likely to be the last post that I will write for this blog, since it has been a long while since the DipFM course was completed. However, I will keep this site – more for memory’s sake, as well to remember the friendships forged during the year-long course.

Dilemma

Posted by: Louis @ 2:02 pm

Just after the exam, I asked the question: since the exam results will not be released till next February and subscription for 2003 expires at the end of 2003, does one still need to be a member of ACCA in order to receive the results in 2004?

It would seem that common sense should prevail, and so the answer is a very likely no. However, for people dealing with money and concerned with following rules to the letter, is common sense still applicable!?!? :undecided:

ps. Just to be on the safe side, I will re-register today. :p

The day after

Posted by: Louis @ 8:06 pm

After a week-long routine of eat-sit (down to study), followed by more eat-sit, ending in sleep at the end of each day, to be repeated the following day, it has finally come to an end after yesterday’s exam. Well, it’s time to sit back and relax. In all honesty (and with a straight face), we have earned it!

From now on, there will be ample time for some of us to watch The Lord of the Rings for the umpteenth time, spend more time rollerblading, exercise those dancing feet! In short, life getting back to normal, although in most cases, “normality” also means getting back to work…

Countdown

Posted by: Louis @ 11:08 am

Two days before the exam. There still seems lots of material to cover. The attraction of Module B ends up also being the killer for anyone wanting to pass it: most of the topics are very interesting and, because of their relevance and scope, have a very wide coverage…

A word of advice to future students: start your preparations early!

DHL

Posted by: Louis @ 7:07 pm

Not meaning to make light of a rather serious matter, but it seems that even commercial jets are not immune to terrorist attacks in the Iraqi air space these days. A DHL plane was “reported” to have been hit by a surface-to-air missile over Baghdad today. Fortunately no one was hurt.

So, if anyone out there is thinking of sending their Dip FM project by DHL, maybe second thoughts??

Final charge

Posted by: Louis @ 10:19 am

Have been burning the midnight oil for the past few nights, as I guess a few of my classmates are also doing… 😉 Sometimes I really wonder, why do I get myself into such tight situations!? Is this the way to “bring” out the best in us!?

Anyway, the title may be a little misleading because there is still an exam after this. But hey, one thing at a time, right!

Goal-setting

Posted by: Louis @ 12:29 am

Learnt quite a few lessons in life in tonight’s class. Although got side-tracked a little and ended up discussing Patrick’s life and setting goals and investment. I think I am not the only one in saying it has all been worth it.

ps. Only about 3 and a bit weeks till exam… 🙁

First thoughts

Posted by: Louis @ 11:54 pm

Briefly discussed the Module B project on Tuesday night. As most agreed, the first question (working out how much capital to raise for business expansion) seemed mostly straightforward, but rather tedious and need to take care in considering all the key financial factors. Already feeling more relieved… 🙂

Anyway, will try to make a start on it this coming weekend.

Comings and goings

Posted by: Louis @ 12:55 am

It’s been a while since I last updated this web page. It’s kind of scary to know that we are already over the half-way mark for module B. That means project submission and exam is just round the corner…
